The Bochinche Bueno Show

Okay, More Dominicans in the house? Que carajos paso con mis Colombianos!?…Last Thursday, Actor/TV Personality/Host Emmi Grullon hung out with the crew. Also, Blackpoint came through with his Watagatapitusberry spanish lingo..Look out for The Remix featuring Pitbull, Lil John & El Cata.
1. How would you describe your style?
I consider myself to be on top of trends but I usually try to create my own style. I like combining an urban style with a mix of preppy when I’m on the town. Also, thanks to my stylist Tahani Cooper who’s an amazing stylist, who styles me whenever I’m attending any red carpet events or I’m hosting any showcase.
2. Where do you like to shop? and why?
I love to shop in Soho and around the city at small trendy stores where I can find items that I can rock. Mixing and matching things from stores like Yrb, Zara, A/X or Diesel. I’m also a huge fan of Vintage Stores and if I come across any thrift shops, I always find myself going in. You never what you may come across.
3. What brand of clothes do you love?
I am a huge fan of Zara, Diesel, Guess, LV, G-Star, A/X, Alexander McQueen, Puma, Marc Jacobs, BSIXTEE6, I mean the list goes on but these are my favorites.
4. What fashion timeline are you inspired by?
I love the 90s look, I guess because I grew up in it…lol watching “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” with Fila Sneakers. Back then it wasn’t about wearing fitted jeans, I mean the bigger the Jeans, the better along with the T-shirt..Nowadays, I may turn around and say “wait a minute these jeans are way too baggy” but don’t get me wrong you’ll never catch me wearing skinny jeans, fitted yes, but not skinny.
5. What from your closet will you pass down to your kids?
I guess I will have to pass down my vintage clothes, but I think by the time my kids grew up to fit into my clothes, all my clothes will be vintage.
*Bonus. What’s cooking for 2010?
At the present time I’m still continuing with my “Hanging Out With Emmi”, which was recently picked up by www.CineDulce.com a division of HBO Latino Films. I’m starting in the film by director Terracino ”Elliot Loves” an award-winning script. I’m about to start shooting a new pilot for TV Show that I was cast in last year, so I’m excited about that. As of now, I’m just thankful to continue doing what I love. I wouldn’t be here without my family and friend’s support.

Great Voices of Salsa at Lincoln Center
February 2, 2010 · Leave a Comment
The last time I saw La India performed was 15 years ago at MSG, so When I found out I won tickets to see her again, I was beyond excited. I couldn’t wait to tell Sarah and I knew she wouldn’t say no to this concert. On Saturday, we witness these Legends onstage. La India, “The princess of Salsa”, Tito Rojas, “El Gallo Salsero” and Tony Vega. The minute La India hit the stage, we were ready with our tissues in hands. It was such an emotional performance. No cameras were allowed but I don’t think it would’ve captured what we saw and felt. A memorable night
Thanks to “The Bochinche Bueno show” for the tickets. Thanks guys!
Look how happy we were lol
The highlight of our night was when La India sang this one…Que Voz!!!

The Bochinche Bueno Show

Dominicano soy!!!!!!! That’s right, Dominicans are definitely taking over The Bochinche Bueno Show. Last Thursday, Dominican recording artist, Maluca came through. Although it was getting late, she was sweet enough to stick around for my “5 Fab questions”.
1. How would you describe your style?
My style is very hipster New York . [I wear] Lots of black and plaid. My shoe of choice are Dr. Martens. My style is very 90s; it is very Lisette Melendez. Rolled up jeans and hats.
2. Where do you like to shop? and why?
My number one place to shop is L.A for the thrift shops. My favorite urban street wear brand is MadeMe and my high-end choices are Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh and Open Ceremony.
3. What brand of clothes do you love?
*Referred to previous question.
4. What fashion timeline are you inspired by?
My favorite era is obviously the 90s. That was the era of Freestyle/Latin Pop. Lisette Melendez, La India, and Junior Sánchez. The Spike Lee movie “Do the Right Thing” is also a big source of inspiration.
5. What from your closet will you pass down to your kids?
I would definitely pass down my Lanvin (plated and steel) shoes and my hat Collection.
*Bonus. What’s cooking for 2010?
2010 is the year of the Platano. Dominican Movimiento.

I know we never give bad reviews on anything but I think this will be our first…Last week, we decided to troop it to Beacon’s Closet in Williamsburg to sell/exchange some well-kept, in good condition, clean clothes. Out of 2 HEAVY garbage bags with stuff I believe Sarah shouldn’t get rid of, she gets 22 dollars!?? Are you kidding me? I looked at the Sales girl, like “umm this is Vintage from Paris”, She disregarded my comments. Dragging those damn bags, well Sarah and this is all you get?…NEVER AGAIN. For those who think you’ll get a good deal out of your clothes at Beacon’s Closet. Try again, stick to Ebay. Sorry Beacon’s
….You lose major points.
We still made it a fun night
Sarah sure knows how to rock the hell outta that Pashmina Scarf I gave her.
There goes the 22 bucks on these hot boots…
Next stop – A pie for the two of us

The Natalie Cole Story
January 25, 2010 · Leave a Comment
I always feature a beauty icon from the 40s, 50s and 60s. Their life story, style, and career always intrigue me. This time around, Natalie Cole (daughter of Nat “King” Cole) caught my eye on her life story on her own biographical movie, “Livin’ for Love”. The strength to overcome drugs, her recovery, becoming a single mother and her greatest triumph makes this 2 hour movie a must see. Natalie Cole is such an inspiration. I highly recommend this made-for-TV movie. One of my favorite songs of all time was her father’s legendary song ”Unforgettable”, but I loved the remake she did in his honor.
